The service

Designer finishes for statement walls

Italian designer paints are decorative coatings that create texture, depth and metallic shimmer far beyond standard emulsion. Depending on the product and technique, the finish can look like brushed metal, flowing silk, aged copper or textured fabric.

One example Allan applies is Copper Sharki / Eastern Wind metallic paint: a warm, copper-toned finish with movement that catches light differently through the day.

Allan Anderson owns the business and applies every decorative finish himself, so the technique is consistent across the whole wall.

Who it's for

Homeowners wanting a bold feature wall, and bars, restaurants, salons and offices wanting a memorable interior.

When it's needed

When a room needs a focal point, a commercial space needs to stand out, or plain paint feels too safe.

Why use a specialist

Metallic and decorative paints show every inconsistency. Technique decides whether the result looks luxurious or uneven.

What it costs to wait

Safe walls make forgettable spaces

Plain walls are easy to choose and easy to forget. In homes and businesses where first impressions matter, that's a missed opportunity.

Spaces that blend in

Commercial spaces with plain interiors are harder for customers to remember and share.

Patchy metallic finishes

Metallic paints applied without technique show brush marks, lap lines and uneven sheen.

Wasted product

Designer paints are a considered investment; poor application wastes it.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • × Choosing a metallic finish without seeing it under your room's lighting.
  • × Applying decorative paint to an unprepared or uneven wall.
  • × Covering every wall when one feature wall creates more impact.
  • × Trying a technique-led finish as a DIY project on a prominent wall.
  • × Ignoring how artificial lighting changes metallic tones at night.

In detail

Designer and metallic paints in detail

The finishes, methods and applications of Italian decorative paints across Glasgow and West and Central Scotland.

Copper Sharki / Eastern Wind

Copper Sharki / Eastern Wind is a metallic effect paint with a warm copper tone and visible movement. It works well behind beds, on chimney breasts, in dining rooms and as a backdrop in bars and receptions.

Other decorative effects

Italian designer paints include metallic, pearlescent, sand-textured and silk-effect finishes. Each creates a different mood, from soft and subtle to bold and dramatic. Allan brings samples so you can compare effects side by side.

How they're applied

Walls are prepared to a smooth, sound base. Decorative paints are then applied using specific brush, roller or trowel techniques depending on the effect. The technique is what creates the movement and depth in the finish.

Lighting matters

Metallic finishes respond strongly to light. Daylight, spotlights and warm lamps all change how the wall looks. That's why samples are viewed in your actual space during the consultation.

Homes and businesses

In homes across Glasgow, Newton Mearns, Bearsden and East Kilbride, metallic paints create striking feature walls. In bars, restaurants, salons and offices, they help a space stand out and feel premium.

Choosing where to use metallic finishes

Metallic and designer paints are at their best where they can catch changing light: a chimney breast beside a window, a wall washed by spotlights, or the back wall of a bar. Placed on every wall, they lose their impact; placed on one wall, they become the reason people remember the room.

At the consultation, Allan looks at your daylight, your artificial lighting and the furniture that will sit in front of the wall. Sample boards are held up in position so you can judge the finish in the morning and evening, not just under one light. That simple step removes most of the risk from choosing a bold finish.

Working with Glasgow Microcement

What to expectfrom first call to handover

Glasgow Microcement LTD is owned and run by Allan Anderson, a specialist applicator of decorative finishes. There is no sales team and no subcontracting of the finish itself: the person who visits your property, measures up and talks through samples is the same person who applies your italian & metallic paints finish.

Allan is a fully approved Cimentart microcement applicator and a fully approved Infinity Effects spray granite applicator. Approval means the materials are applied the way the manufacturer intends: preparation, layering and protection all follow the system rather than shortcuts.

When a project needs more than a finish, such as a new shower, a moved sink, trimmed doors or boxed-in pipework, Allan ties in directly with trusted plumbers and joiners. You get one point of contact who plans the order of work, so trades are not left waiting on each other and nothing falls between the gaps.

Free, no-obligation site visit

Allan comes to your home or premises, checks the existing surfaces and explains honestly what is and is not suitable before any quote is agreed.

Physical sample boards
